2904 - Freelance Writing Fundamentals at UFT:
This course will introduce you to the fundamentals of journalism. You'll work with an experienced journalist to craft stories that convey the facts objectively and clearly. You'll develop the tools and techniques essential to writing articles with sharp, focused leads and a solid structure that guides the reader using logic and flow. If you are keen to write but have had little or no previous instruction in journalism, this could be the right place for you to start.
What You'll Learn: Understand the fundamentals of writing news, feature articles and media releases.
Discover and develop article ideas before you write.
Outline and craft a lead that answers the five Ws (who, what, where, when and why) and sometimes how.
Develop human interest, anecdotal or scene-setting leads for profiles and feature articles.
